There are less than three months left to benefit from Roulez vert. The Quebec government has confirmed that its electric vehicle purchase incentive ends on December 31, 2026, and it is the registration date, not the purchase date, that determines whether you qualify. Here are the amounts still available, how they stack with the federal program, a worked example and what to check before signing.

Compare the total cost of an electric and a gas vehicle in Quebec, with 2026 rebates, Hydro-Québec's rate D and the price of gasoline.

Roulez vert amounts in 2026

For a vehicle registered in 2026, the maximum incentive is: • $2,000 for a new battery-electric vehicle • $2,000 for a hydrogen (fuel cell) vehicle • $1,000 for a new plug-in hybrid with a battery of 15 kWh or more • $500 for a new plug-in hybrid with a battery of 8 to under 15 kWh • $1,000 for a used battery-electric vehicle • $500 for an electric motorcycle The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) must be under $65,000 for a new vehicle. The rebate is applied by the dealer at the time of purchase or lease and deducted after taxes. For comparison, a new battery-electric vehicle qualified for $7,000 in 2024 and $4,000 in 2025. In 2027, the amount will be $0.

The registration date is what counts

The government is clear: only the date the vehicle is registered in your name is used to determine eligibility and the amount. Amounts are not maintained for people who ordered their vehicle or paid a deposit before the end of the program. In practice, a vehicle ordered in November 2026 but delivered and registered in January 2027 gets no Roulez vert incentive. If you are buying now: • favour a vehicle in stock or one with confirmed delivery well before late December; • have the expected delivery date written into the contract; • keep in mind that the holiday season slows deliveries and registration appointments. Reminder: the program was suspended from February 1 to March 31, 2025, and vehicles registered during that period did not qualify. The government can change the conditions; check the official page before signing.

The federal program: up to $5,000 more

Transport Canada's Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) applies to transactions made on or after February 16, 2026: • up to $5,000 for a new battery-electric or hydrogen vehicle; • up to $2,500 for a new plug-in hybrid; • final transaction value of $50,000 or less (no limit for vehicles made in Canada); • vehicle made in Canada or in a country with a free-trade agreement with Canada. The dealer applies for you and applies the incentive to the contract, after taxes and fees. The program is set to run until March 31, 2031 or until funds run out: as of October 1, 2026, $1.92B remained of a $2.275B envelope. The two incentives stack.

Worked example: what you save in 2026

Take a new battery-electric vehicle priced at $45,000 before taxes, eligible for both programs: • Price: $45,000.00 • GST (5%): $2,250.00 • QST (9.975%): $4,488.75 • Total with taxes: $51,738.75 • Less Roulez vert: −$2,000.00 • Less EVAP: −$5,000.00 • Cost after rebates: $44,738.75 Registered in January 2027, the same vehicle would cost at least $2,000 more, or $46,738.75 if the federal program is still offered at the same amount. If you finance the purchase, calculate the payment with the auto loan calculator.

What about the charging station?

Charger assistance is no longer part of Roulez vert: since March 17, 2026, it falls under the Écorecharge program. • Home charger: $600 for the purchase of an eligible charger. Since April 1, 2026, only connected (smart) chargers qualify. • Individual charger in a multi-unit building: up to $5,000. The end of Roulez vert on December 31, 2026 therefore does not cover charger assistance, which is a separate program. Check the list of eligible chargers before you buy. For costs, installation and how to apply, read our home EV charger guide.

Checklist before December 31

• Is the model on the Roulez vert eligible vehicle list, with an MSRP under $65,000? • Does the vehicle qualify for EVAP (country of manufacture, transaction value)? Ask the dealer to validate eligibility, which is valid for 90 days. • Can delivery and registration happen before December 31, 2026? • Do both rebates appear on the contract, after taxes? • Have you compared the total cost of ownership, not just the price?

Conclusion

Roulez vert is in its final months: $2,000 for a new electric vehicle registered by December 31, 2026, then nothing. Combined with the federal EVAP, an eligible electric vehicle can still be $7,000 cheaper in 2026. The key is getting it registered before year-end.
